King Menes
Menes was a very important pharaoh. He was the first to rule Egypt. During his time there were two kingdoms separated to Upper and Lower Egypt. The boundaries for these kingdoms were never really defined. The Lower Egypt king wore White Crown and Red Crown is worn by the Upper Egypt king . He was able to defeat the invaders and went on to unite Egypt around 3100 B.C.

King Menes got his name from being mean to the people of Memphis.The reason why people were mad at Menes because, he promised to build a city in Memphis,but he didn't that's how he got his name Menes. Menes also found the first Dynasty.He also found or built Memphis a long time ago.From that time on, he always referred himself as “The King of Upper and Lower Egypt”.Memphis which later became one of Egypt's leading cities.
The pharaoh owned all of Egypt. The social pyramid was an easy way how the pharaoh classified the people of Egypt.The first 3 parts of the pyramid are the pharaoh on top,the
government officials,and the soliders. In the next 3 parts of the pyramid shows the scribes,
merchants,and the artisans.The last 2 parts of the pyramid shows the farmers and lastly the
slaves, they were always last on the list.
The exact length of the Nile River is 4,184 miles.The blue Nile and the white Nile meet at
Khartoum, Sudan.Melting snow and heavy summer rain in the Ethioipian Mountians sent a torrent of water causing the banks of the Nile to flood.The Nile River is surrounded by the Sahara Desert.The 2 types of fish found in the Nile River are Tilapia and Catfish.
When a pharaoh dies he or she will be mummified.Preparing a body for afterlife is a very
complicated.To mummifie a pharaoh it takes 70 days to wrap a pharaoh.The preist in Egypt
would have to take it very slowly.If the preist makes a cut on the body the preist would
be responsible.After the pharaoh is wrapped a golden mask is put on their face to show how
they looked like when they were alive.
Scientists today still don't know how Menes died.Legend had it that Menes was killed by a hippopotamus.His chief wife was Queen Berenib.He died at the age of 63.Menes' tomb was found at Saqqra,Memphis.His mother was Neithotepe.
